Worldwide Whitchurch Weekend & Party in the Park

Worldwide Whitchurch Weekend and Party in the Park will soon be here.  Taking place from Friday 2nd June until Sunday 4th June, this weekend is packed with activities, tours, events and markets.

On Friday evening at 6pm there is a free buffet supper, choral concert and dance show by Maggie May’s Dance Academy.  Whitchurch Shropshire want to welcome our guests from other Whitchurch’s around the country, by displaying all that’s great about our town.  Everyone is welcome to the supper and if you are a member of a community group or local charity, please bring along a pop-up banner or flag to display.

Below is a sample of what’s on during the weekend and the full programme with map is available from The Hub at Whitchurch Civic Centre:

During Saturday events and activities include:
– an ale trail lead by CAMRA
– all age rounders tournament on Saturday morning
– Organ recital in the Masonic Hall
– canal boat trips
– St Alkmund’s Church tower tours
– Whitchurch Maker’s Market

AND

PARTY IN THE PARK on Saturday 3rd June from 1pm in Jubilee Park:
With live performances from Hazah – Vodka Jellies – Lilly Boughey – Paul Henshaw & the Scientific Simpletons – The Losing Score and The Grove on the bandstand.  Maggie May’s Dance Academy, Glo’s Dance & Cheer, the Magical Magician all performing too, fingers crosses for plenty of sunshine.

As well as a great selection of tasty food and drink, licensed bar and plenty of stalls to browse around, there are entertainment and activities including, Paul Hand’s Bees & Trees with mice and willow weaving; Lego sessions; climbing wall and cage football.

There are also Poetry Readings from 4pm in the afternoon where the winners of the Acrostic Poem will be on show.  For your entry forms please visit Whitchurch Library.

On Sunday 4th June there will be a community service at 10am in St Alkmund’s Church for people of all faiths and denominations, celebrating the weekend and all Whitchurch’s; Whitchurch Whippets will be leading a 3-5 mile short run; Whitchurch Walkers will be leading a 3 mile gated walk from 11am – further details on the full programme.
