This popular and busy farmers’ market takes place once a month in the Bullring pedestrianised area in the centre of Whitchurch. It is run as a ‘not for profit’ social enterprise and is organised by a committee, mainly of stallholders but with one representative of the town council. The town council provide staff to help with setting up the market and storage for the stalls. In return they receive a share of stall rents.
In 2012 the social enterprise received a grant to enable it to purchase stalls and also have access to some portable town council stalls. some traders also provide their own gazebos and tables.
The market has pursued a policy a policy of actively recruiting good quality traders and as a result standards are high.
Please note that the market operates a strict ‘producer only policy’ – traders are only allowed to sell what they produce and should originate from within 50 miles, preferably 30 miles.
