Shropdoc

Shropdoc is a not-for-profit company established in 1996. We provide urgent medical services for patients when their GP surgery is closed and whose needs cannot safely wait until the surgery is next open. We work closely with 111 to ensure urgent health needs are met as quickly as possible.

Our workforce includes Call Handlers, Doctors, Urgent Care Practitioners, Drivers and Receptionists as well as an Administrative Team to ensure everything runs smoothly. All our services are clinically led and our staff work as a team to ensure the best possible service for our patients. Shropdoc provide Out of Hours Care when your GP Surgery is closed, but you may see our Urgent Care Practitioners and our familiar Shropdoc cars during the day as well, as we increasingly work with local GP’s to provide urgent care in practices.

Shropdoc are proud to provide services to 600,000 patients in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin and Powys. We deal with over 200,000 calls and over 50,000 patients per year and pride ourselves on our commitment and the high quality of care we deliver.

Shropdoc uses expertly trained call handlers to direct your enquiry to the right clinical professional as quickly as possible. Shropdoc prioritises all calls according to need and wait times may vary. It may be possible to resolve your health concerns with advice over the phone from our clinicians. When appropriate, you will be offered an appointment to see one of our clinical staff in our Primary Care Centres or a home visit depending on the severity of your condition.

Shropdoc work with 111, so if you call them first and you still need to see us, this can be arranged by 111.

If you have a life threatening event such central chest pain, severe breathlessness, a suspected stroke, a prolonged fit (>10 mins) or a fit in a child call 999.
