Whitchurch Party in the Park – Saturday 6th June

Whitchurch Party in the Park is taking place this coming Saturday, 6th June from 1pm until 7pm(ish) in Jubilee Park.  The event will be opened at 1pm by the new Mayor, Mike MacDonald, followed by Kev and Dave Soul Duo getting the Party started.  There will be activities for the family and many attractions for young and old – best of all there is FREE entry and lots of free things to do …..

Including a great line-up on the bandstand:

  • Kev ‘n’ Dave Soul start the event at 1pm – the super sound of soul in Shropshire!
  • Secateurs – a rock/indie threesome from Deeside
  • Paul Henshaw – straight from Shropshire’s Big Busk to Whitchurch Party in the Park – local Shropshire folk music
  • Red Spektor – Staffordshire trio playing classic heavy rock
  • Charli White – a young singer/song-writer from Macclesfield
  • Boys Allowed …. Out!!!  – you’ve heard of Girls Aloud – well these guys are nothing like them – from Chester they will be playing out the evening with good quality blues rock

Glo’s Dance and Cheer will be performing once again, local cheerleading at its best and they will also be having a stall for you to find out more.  Maggie May’s Dance will presenting their dance to the Party for the first time; both groups are formed of local young people performing at our local event.

Award-winning story-teller Jake’s Take will be bringing life to favourite tales in front of the bandstand and this year we also have some special guests, so come along prepared to take photographs – stars from the Disney film ‘Frozen’ will be visiting as well as Mickey & Minnie Mouse – why don’t the children come along dressed up to show their favourite characters.

Once again the climbing wall is coming, a favourite every year and this year the Little Loco Train will be meandering along the footpaths of the park – something for Thomas the Tank Engine fans young and old. Churches Together will be offering free children’s activities and West Midlands Air Ambulance will be bring the ambulance pod.

Whitchurch Fairtrade Town group will be serving teas and coffees throughout the event; Whitchurch Chamber of Trade will be running the licensed bar, a local business will be serving ‘mocktails’ – there will be bacon & sausage butties, venison burgers, pork pies & sausage rolls as well as cupcakes, Cheshire Farm ice cream and sweet treats.  All from local businesses supporting a local event – come along and tickle your taste buds.

So with all this entertainment and fantastic craft stalls, along with fabulous food and drink, including a licensed bar and a ‘mocktail’ bar – what else would you be doing on Saturday afternoon?  Come along, bring your friends and family, picnic blanket or deck chairs – the sun is going to shine and we’re going to have a fabulous PARTY!!
