Everybody Active Towns Project

Up to £30,000 is available to spend on projects that help get people active in Whitchurch.

This is a one-off Public Health funded initiative to help address physical inactivity in Whitchurch.  The town has been allocated up to £30,000 to fund projects aimed at getting more people to be more active, regardless of age.

The funding is available to people who have ideas on getting people more physically active, especially those people who do not do any physical activity at the moment.  Research has shown that being more active could save your life.

If you’ve got an idea for a project that would encourage more people in Whitchurch to be more active, then let us know.  Please complete the Expression of Interest form and submit by the closing date of Saturday 14th May:

Why?  Physical inactivity can cause serious health problems.  In fact, it is now one of the country’s main health concerns, being responsible for one in six deaths and costing the country an estimated £7.4 billion a year.  But just by being more active you can improve your health and even prevent long term, debilitating conditions, such as diabetes, heart disease, dementia and strokes.

That is why we want to encourage everyone to be more active and we especially want to target those people who don’t usually get involved.  So if you’ve got an idea to get more people active then tell us.  You could receive funding if your idea is chosen.

How do I get involved?  Visit http://www.healthyshropshire.co.uk for inspiration on ideas and to read the supporting information.  Download the Expression of Interest form above and return it to nicki.young@shropshire.gov.uk by Saturday 14th May, but please make sure you include information on how people of Whitchurch will benefit.  If you’d like to chat to someone please give your community enablement officer, Nicki Young, a call on 07990 085187.
