Whitchurch Food & Drink Festival 2017 – 20-21 May

Whitchurch Food & Drink Festival is very excited to announce that Bake Off Star Jo Wheatley will be the special guest at the 4th annual festival to be held in Whitchurch, Shropshire from Saturday 20th – Sunday 21st May 2017. Jo will feature at the festival on the Sunday and complete two cookery demonstrations live on stage and judge the festival’s Celebration Cake Competition which is open to everyone.

Jo is a food writer and TV baker who rose to fame as the winner of
the second series of BBC’s The Great British Bake Off. Since winning, Jo has set up a cookery school from her home in Essex which was listed in The Guardian’s Top Five UK Baking Schools. Jo was voted 2nd in a poll of Radio Times readers’ favourite ever Great British Bake Off contestants.

A wide range of products and activities feature at this popular event including Kids’ Kitchen, face-painting, outdoor food court, live musical performances, packed programme on the cookery theatre, Producer Awards and the best part – this is a completely free event! There is lots to try and buy from tantalising fresh meat to hand-whipped ice cream, delicious cakes, bakes and treats, to freshly griddled game burgers, wraps and pizzas. With over eighty food producers joining us under one roof from homemade fruit preserves to fiery chilli jam, real ale, cider, cocktails, estate grown and bottled wine and prosecco by the glass Whitchurch Food & Drink Festival really does have something to suit every palette!

The festival will always offer free entry so come along with the whole family to our lovely market town of Whitchurch from Saturday 20th – Sunday 21st May. Our fantastic foodie festival is a high quality local event, with a few extra special surprises! Once again we look forward to welcoming many of our regular food exhibitors and supporters back this year. We are moving our artisan craft market up the High Street to link it in with the festival to highlight the work of the local crafters in and around Shropshire. A new competition open to everyone at the 2017 Food & Drink Festival, is The Great British Summer Holiday Cake Decorating Competition.  This competition is free to enter and all you have to do is abide by the rules, enter yourself into the correct category and bake and creatively decorate your cake to fit in with the theme of the competition – on your makes, get ready, bake!!!
