Beacon Church

On Sundays we meet at the Civic Centre at 10:30 am and at the office at 7.00 pm. Do come and join us, we would love to meet you.

Our first Sunday service at the Civic Centre was on 27th April 2008. We were ‘planted’ from Barnabas Community Church in Shrewsbury as a response to two couples who felt that God was calling them to Whitchurch to show God’s love to people who were searching for faith and help ‘bring something back to the town’.

Beacon has now grown to about 70 worshippers and has a leadership team headed by our two Elders, Jamie and Ken. We are praying for, and expecting, further growth and the movement of the Holy Spirit throughout Whitchurch. We are affiliated to New Frontiers and the Christ Central group of churches.

God’s calling for us is to be Spirit-filled, Spirit-led worshippers who follow the example of our saviour Jesus and demonstrate the love of God to all the people we can in all the ways that we can.

Our services are open and lively with all participants being encouraged to take part as they feel the Spirit is leading them. We worship the living God and have an expectation that his Holy Spirit will be made manifest during our services. During the week we also hold ‘Connect Group’ meetings for further worship and study, clubs for children and youth, ‘coffee plus’ and a monthly group for older people.

During the year we also hold a children’s holiday bible club and a children’s activity time in the Market Hall, we are present at the Party in the Park and the Blackberry Fair and, from time to time, have a Sunday service in the park. We also have a regular ‘bring and share’ lunch after the Sunday service, to which all are invited. A group also attends the ‘Devoted’ weekend in Nottingham and our youth attend ‘Soul Survivor’.
