Shop Local & Support Your High Street

Whitchurch has a wealth of independent shops who are ready and waiting to be of service to you, safely.

2020 has undoubtedly been a difficult year for High Streets and Town Centres across the UK.

One thing is for sure, we love the vibrancy of Whitchurch Town Centre and want it to remain that way. When the second lockdown in England ended on 2nd December, Whitchurch’s independents threw open their doors and welcomed customers back with open arms (from a safe distance of course). Many of the locally run businesses have had to think of new ways to support themselves and their innovation has shone through with an increase in online shopping offers, click and collect as well as dine at home options from our local restaurants.

All of the shops in Whitchurch are now open. In the run up to Christmas many High Street stores are offering Sunday trading hours to assist with your last minute shopping!

Look out for our brightly coloured, hand-painted signs supported by the Love Where You Live campaign. The Welcome Back to Whitchurch Christmas brochure is out now and contains lots of offers and vouchers for goods and services in Whitchurch, as well as a £100 prize draw! Use the hashtag #ShopWhitchurch on social media in order to join the conversation.

Sadly there could be no big switch on this year but the town’s Christmas lights are on for you to enjoy when you visit the Town Centre. There are also lots of beautifully lit shop window displays to see throughout Whitchurch, the Bullring and Watergate Arcade. Whitchurch Town Council installs and maintains the Christmas lights throughout Whitchurch Town Centre. The lights in the three large trees located in the Bullring have all been refreshed this year.

Whitchurch Friday Market is now back in the Civic Centre’s Main Hall and front forecourt. The last Market of the year will take place on Friday 18th December 2020.

The Civic Centre will be closed from 21st December – 4th January 2021.

Whitchurch Rotary Club’s Father Christmas is doing his rounds throughout December but there will be no house to house calling. Check Father Christmas’s route on his Rotary Float here:https://whitchurchrotary.org.uk/fundraising/father-christmas-routes-2020
